I am a Stanley because of the grace of one man, Louie W. Stanley, some fifty-one years ago. I am now fifty-five; when I was about four years old, Louie and Clytie (my birth grandmother) adopted me and raised me to act and think like a Stanley. That would entail the characteristics of honesty, integrity, and truthfulness. I consider myself as a most fortunate urchin to have never merited, nor to have never earned the right to be called Stanley. No, nothing in me that warrants this honor - it was bestowed upon me. I take great pride in this name and designate from the coat of arms: Without Change - Stanley.
Only God in His great wisdom and sovereignty knows the whys of this dignity, and I trust that He will protect this name as we of this family give testimony daily of the heritage entrusted to us.
